Editorial Policy & AI Disclosure
How Smart Tech Picks researches, writes and fact-checks its buying guides, and how we use AI in that process.
Who writes our guides
Smart Tech Picks is an independent publisher. We don't use made-up author personas, and we don't claim to have tested products we haven't used. Guides are published under the Smart Tech Picks Editorial Team byline, and the methods below explain how each one is put together.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to speed up research and drafting: gathering manufacturer specifications, organizing the questions buyers ask most, and producing a first draft. AI does not decide what we recommend, and no guide goes live as an unedited AI draft.
Every draft is reviewed and edited by a person, who rewrites anything vague, removes claims that can't be supported and makes sure the guide answers the question it is meant to answer.
How we check facts
- Technical claims, such as charging standards, water-resistance ratings, wireless standards and compatibility, are checked against primary sources: manufacturer specification pages, published standards and documentation from standards bodies.
- Real-world observations, such as comfort over long sessions or how loud a fan gets, are checked against independent lab-style reviews and patterns in verified buyer reviews, not single opinions.
- When sources disagree or a detail varies by model, we say so and tell you what to check on the product page instead of guessing.
- We give price ranges rather than exact prices, because prices change daily. Ranges reflect typical US retail pricing at the time of writing.
What we don't do
- We don't accept payment for rankings or placements.
- We don't invent test results, measurements or personal experiences.
- We don't name specific products as "tested" unless we have actually used them; if we add hands-on testing in the future, those guides will be clearly labeled.
Updates and corrections
Product categories change quickly, so we review guides regularly and update the date shown at the top of the page when we make meaningful changes. We are currently reviewing our existing guides against this policy, including adding source lists. If you spot an error, contact us through our About page and we'll correct it.
Advertising and affiliate links
If Smart Tech Picks shows ads or uses affiliate links, they never influence what we recommend. Any affiliate links will be disclosed on the page where they appear. See our Disclosure and Privacy Policy pages for details.
